March 19, 1990 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, Tone Loc covered Newsweek magazine — for all the wrong reasons. See, the people over at Newsweek did a cover story about the anger in rap music… While NWA was saying F[!]ck the Police and Too $hort was using Cuss Words, the editors decided that friendly ass Tone Loc would make good for the cover.
Tone Loc? Tone Loc… That’s like putting R. Kelly on the cover of Nickelodeon Magazine. 🤭
