September 9, 1977 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, James “Soulja Slim” Tapp Jr. was born. Soulja Slim would grow up to: (1) grow up in the Magnolia Projects, (2) drop out of school in the 11th grade, (3) rap as Magnolia Slim, (4) release 6 albums and 3 mixtapes, (5) have a posthumous #1 record and (6) be gunned down in front of his mother’s home at the age of 26.
