April 14: Da Brat Was Born. (1974)
April 14, 1974 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, Shawntae “Da Brat” Harris was born in Joliet, iLLinois. Da Brat would grow up to: (1) sing in the choir as a kid, (2) run track and play basketball, (3) win a Yo MTV Raps rap contest to meet Kris Kross and would eventually be signed to Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def, (4) release 4 albums, (5) be nominated for a Grammy, (6) act in TV and films and (7) become the 1st solo female rapper to go PLATINUM!
I didn’t know the extent of Da Brat’s beef with 2pac. All I remember is him dissin’ on the Makaveli volumes.
