January 5, 1978 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, Karnail “Bugz” Pitts was born in Detroit, Michigan.
Growing Up
Bugz would grow up to: (1) be raised without his father, (2) release 2 projects (1 of those being posthumously released), (3) become a member of D-12, (4) be known as Robert Beck and (5) unfortunately be shot, run over and killed at the age of 22 during an altercation at a park.
The Legacy
Bugz, also known as Karnail Pitts, was an integral member of D12, contributing significantly to the group’s early formation and musical direction. Born on February 5, 1978, Bugz grew up in the tough neighborhoods of Detroit, Michigan, where his experiences would later influence the gritty and authentic style that characterized D12’s music. He was known for his charismatic personality, sharp wit, and a distinctive flow that set him apart in the hip-hop scene.
Tragically, Bugz’s promising career was cut short in 1999 when he was fatally shot during a street altercation. His untimely death sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community, leaving a void in D12 that could never be fully filled. Despite this loss, the remaining members forged ahead, releasing their debut album “Devil’s Night” in 2001, which solidified their place in hip-hop history.
