January 21, 19** – On This Date In Hip-Hop, Marlanna “Rapsody” Evans was born. Rapsody would grow up to: (1) become a member of Kooley High, (2) sign with 9th Wonder, (3) release 4 mixtapes, 3 EP’s and 2 albums, (4) be influenced by Jay-Z, Mos Def, Lauryn Hill and MC Lyte, (5) have a dime on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, (6) sign a management deal with Rocnation and (7) be nominated for 2 GRAMMYS including Best Rap Album.
