January 18, 1970 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, David “DJ Quik” Blake was born in Bompton, California. DJ Quik would grow up to: (1) be inspired by funk music, (2) play instruments at the age of 12, (3) become homeless, (4) drop out of high school, (5) beef and later on reconcile with MC Eiht, (6) release 9 albums, (7) bang TTP, (8) bring Compton a Platinum plaque at the age of 21, (9) act in films, (10) believe in makin’ dollas (11) be given the Key to Compton and (12) swear to never drink again if God just let him keep livin.
