since you’re using KRK monitors do you use anything else for a refrence?
KRK monitors have an enhanced low-end, as do Beats headphones.
I went from them to ADAM because of the ‘flat response’.
if you’re listening to those beats in a different setting and they have an abundance of low-end that’s why. -
My KRKs are old. So shit I might look into alternatives especially since I do need to hear my music more flat when I don’t want to pay an engineer to mix and wanna put something out on social media right quick. Frontier speakers are dope but they cost a grip

My space is mad limited so eye just use my MPC 1000 with Sony headphones, and a ion turntable to sample and Adobe audition to track out beats from the mpc to my computer, eye been looking into getting some studio monitors to listen to my beats before eye upload online, eye started making beats on FL Studio but eye really enjoyed making beats analog on the Akai mpc 1000
-
Bought a MPC Live II a couple of months back and i ain’t never letting go of it. The built-in speaker is waaaayy better than expected too. I definetely recommend getting a MPC if you into that kind of beat-making. MPC One is great too (basically the same as the Live II but no built-in speaker and some other ‘extra’s’ but the machine works exactly the same)

Yeah the mpc live is dope, the homie has it and makes some fire with it eye love how the sound waves are visible for clean accurate chops

Numark Turntable
MAudio ProjectMix Audio Interface
OG Maschine
Serato Sample for the chops
When I’m ready to drop vocals and mix I export the stems to Cakewalk by Bandlab (I used to use Pro Tools MPowered 8 but I got tired of it 🤣. Cakewalk is powerful and FREE for Windows)

Reason
Nektar Panorama T4
Presonus Eris E5
Focusrite Scarlett Solo
Serato Sample- definitely speeds up workflow
MPC Live 2 is next!
-
I used to have an MPC1000, and an SP1200. I got tired of having to flip floppy’s & not having the memory to sample the way i wanted. When Maschine came out i went BONKERS.
I can do stuff in that program that takes forever to do in programs like Ableton and Logic.
its all preference of course, but i feel that my familiarity makes the workflow much faster.
plus having a harddrive with all the samples….
hard to go back to a standalone situation. -
MPC ONE as the brains then SP 404 mk2, 303 and 202 for the sauce
-
LEAN! I know a few people who’s 404 LIVES in their effects chain. Definitely a good choice to add some spice to your cook-up.

Maschine MK3 (Serato Sampler) – SP404A
I use to have a Roland Fantom in the mix. I definitely have to get another or NI Komplete Kontrol
-
Serato sampler is cool, I couldn’t get into it after using maschine for so long though. Definitely has a lot of potential.
-
I bet you’re a beast at choppin samplings in Maschine! Hate to say I haven’t taken the time to learn. I started yrs ago but then got introduced to serato. Lol
-
I’ve always wanted a Roland Fantom just never got one. I have a MV-8000 and they’re a beast paired together.
