August 6: JAY-Z Challenges Nas To Pay-Per-View Battle. (2002)

August 6, 2002 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, JAY-Z took over Angie Martinez’s show for two days. Within this time span, Jay spoke on his beefs with 50 Cent, apologizing for going to far in his Super Ugly beef with Nas and even challenged the Queensbridge emcee to a pay-per-view battle – for charity.

Nas would ultimately turn down the offer stating this:

Pay-per-view is for wrestlers and boxers. I make records. If Jay-Z wants to battle, he should drop his album the same day I do and let the people decide.

Nas to MTV
