#OnThisDateInHipHop, JAY-Z’s The Blueprint Added To Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry

March 20, 2019 – #OnThisDateInHipHop, JAY-Z’s The Blueprint was  inducted into the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry for being culturally significant to American culture. Records by Nina Simone and Curtis Mayfield were also archived.

For those who don’t know the National Recording Registry is an archive of American sound recordings that “are culturally, historically, or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States.”

Billie Holiday’s “Strange Fruit” is there. #2pac’s Dear Mama. Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5’s “The Message” is there as well as King’s I Have A Dream Speech.
