January 15, 1975 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, Patrick “9th Wonder” Douthit was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. 9th Wonder would grow up to: (1) attend North Carolina University, (2) become 1/3 of Little Brother, (3) receive his 1st major label placement on Jay Z’s Black Album [“Threat”], (4) rap as 9thmatic, (5) launch 2 record labels Jamla and The Academy, (6) teach HipHop at North Carolina Central University, Duke and Harvard, (7) release 8 albums and over 20 collaborative projects with artists like Murs, Skyzoo, David Banner and Talib Kweli and (8) assemble The Soul Council.
