May 2, 2013 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, 2pac’s god-mother Assata Shakur was placed on the FBI’s Most Wanted list as a domestic terrorist and $1,000,000 was put up for her capture.
This was not so coincidentally the same day when in 1973 she was pulled over, shot twice and charged with the murder of a police officer. Assata Shakur escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in 1979.

May 2, 2006 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, Mobb Deep released their 7th album Blood Money on Infamous / G-Unit.
May 2, 1995 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, the predominantly Hip-Hop and RnB soundtrack to Panther was released on Mercury Records.
May 2, 2016 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, we lost Afeni Shakur.
