April 22, 1978 – On This Date In Hip-Hop, Tyree “DJ Drama” Simmons was born. DJ Drama would grow up to: (1) found Aphilliates Music Group and Generation Now with Don Cannon, (2) become a DJ, (3) release 5 albums and a mad stupid amount of Gangsta Grillz mixtapes, (4) attend Clark University, DJ for Slum Village, Bahamadia and T.I.’s Grand Hustle, (5) have a cameo in ATL, (6) be subject of a federal racketeering and copyright case involving RIAA, (7) give Drake his asterisk and (8) become a staple in the mixtape game.
